A political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has reacted to the Supreme Court judgement which upheld the victory of General Muhammadu Bubari, discribing the decision as “a show of shame by the judiciary.”
Frank also warned the few beneficiaries who were hailing the outcome of the apex court to be careful not to fall victims in the near future.
The political activist in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Thursday, declared that the Waziri Adamawa Atiku Abubakar, will remain a true hero of democracy in Nigeria despite the ruling.
The Bayelsa born activist described the ruling as not only the worst but a daylight robbery in the history of Nigeria. It is an embarrassment and a total show of shame as other countries will be laughing at our judiciary.
Frank, who thanked Atiku’s supporters at home and abroad, believe that what transpired at the Supreme Court was a coup against democracy.
“It was a well scripted drama. The evil agenda was perfected before General Buhari left the country in pretence. It was a collaboration between the presidency and the Supreme Court. Most Nigerians were shock at the speed at which the panel dismissed the case because the judgement came as a surprise to them.
“Nigerians will recall that I exposed the handpicked names of the panel members two days before Justice Tanko made it public. But surprisingly and shamelessly, the anti-democratic forces, despite the exposure still went ahead with the handpicked list. They have sold their consciences to the devil.
“The current apex court has taken the country far backward in the justice administration and it will take the mercy of God for all the actors in this sham to escape the hottest part of hell.
“This is a judgement that posterity will never forgive all those who sat on it and allowed themselves to be compromised. All those who allowed themselves to be used shall fully received their reward.
“It will be on record that certain Justices had opportunity to right the wrong but decided otherwise.”
Frank, who expressed joy in the law of posterity, said unavoidably all those who are gloating today in the injustice done to Atiku Abubakar, will have their days with posterity in near future.
“It is not all about Atiku Abubakar, he can not go hungry. It is about the future of young Nigerians. If Nigerians will continue to seat back and refuse to fight for their rights, the obvious hunger, poverty, insecurity, unemployment, incompetence hands in government and all other problems facing the country will not voluntarily disappear,” Timi Frank warned.
He, however, called on Nigerians not to fold their hands any longer, adding that “all democratic institutions like National Assembly, Judiciary and others built by former leaders have been destroyed under the current administration of General Muhammadu Buhari.”

COVID-19: APC Government Insensitive To Plight Of Stranded Nigerians, Says Timi Frank
A political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Thursday, accused the Major General Muhammadu Buhari-led administration of gross insensitivity to the pathetic plight of Nigerians stranded abroad due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Frank in a statement in Abuja, insisted that a situation where the recent 256 Nigerians evacuated from the United Arab Emirates were made to pay for their flight tickets shows a government that is past caring for its distressed citizens.
The Bayelsa-born political activist, said it is unbecoming for a supposed democratic government to turn a deaf ear to the agonizing cries of its trapped citizens wherever they may be across the globe, especially at a time of extreme stress.
He lamented that the Federal Government is about to mete a similar wicked treatment to other Nigerians stranded in the United Kingdom and China by asking them to pay for their flight tickets if they want to return home.
While stranded Nigerians at this period of ravaging pandemic need all the help they can get as they have since exhausted their resources due to overstay, stranded Nigerians in China are in a most precarious situation.
“Apart from the grievous ordeal Nigerians stranded in China have undergone in the hands of the Chinese security forces, the Federal Government through the Minister of Foriegn Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, has told them that their return tickets are no longer valid and that they have to cough out N700,000 if they want to return home.
“This is double jeopardy! No Nigerian should be treated like a slave or an alien by his home Government. Where is the pride of being a Nigerian?
“A government that cannot fulfill its first constitutional obligation which is to guarantee the welfare and security to its citizens, especially those that have been caught up in faraway lands by a global pandemic is no longer worthy of that appellation.
“When the French, American and UK Governments evacuated their nationals from Nigeria, they did not ask individuals to pay for return flight tickets.
“They conveyed them freely back home because they know that they owe their citizens an obligation to extricate and bring them home whenever they are faced with imminent danger abroad.
“Why is Nigeria crying of paucity of funds to render a Constitutional duty to innocent citizens caught up in an emergency in foreign lands with all the money it has received from individuals and corporate organizations as palliatives to mitigate the harsh effects of the national health emergency?
“Besides, the 256 evacuees from Dubai on Wednesday would still be there due to lack of hotels or conducive space to quarantine them for the mandatory 14 days on arrival but for the Lagos State Government that decided to shoulder that responsibility.
“This Government needs to wake up and at least treat Nigerians decently. Leaving Nigerians to turn beggars abroad as a result of the pandemic is not only a national disgrace but a display of monumental incompetence.
“It is shameful for the Minister of Foreign Affairs to claim that ‘palliatives are really destined for Nigerians here in Nigeria.’
“Does that mean that Nigerians endangered in diaspora having been cut off by this pandemic become less Nigerian and therefore unworthy of help in the thinking of the Federal Government?”
He insisted that it is the sole duty of the Federal Government to display needed empathy by genuinely helping stranded Nigerians to seamlessly return home during this global war against an invisible enemy.
He added that the National Assembly must for once “jettison its rubber stamp toga and strictly monitor all anti-pandemic programmes already initiated by the Federal Government to ensure that the war chest already amassed against the Coronavirus pandemic is transparently administered.”

PCA: Women Guild Warns Against Opposition To Dongban-Mensem
The Nigeria Guild of Professional Women (NGPW) has warned against any move to deny the current acting President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, the opportunity of being confirmed as the substantive head of the Court.
The Guild, in a statement issued yesterday in Lagos and jointly signed by Prof. Jemima Anshe and Barr. Hauwa Labbo, the chairperson and publicity secretary of NGPW respectively, said Justice Dongban-Mensem’s gender and religion should not be the obstacles to her confirmation as the President of the appellate court.
“It is clear to everyone that Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem is eminently qualified to be appointed as the next President of the Court of Appeal, hence we don’t see the reason why she is occupying the office in acting capacity for nearly two months now in the first place save for sinister motives.
“Now that Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem’s name has been forwarded to President Muhammadu Buhari by the National Judicial Council (NJC) for onward transmission to the Senate and subsequent confirmation as the President of the Court of Appeal (PCA), some other names are being bandied around in official quarters other than that of the most suitable and senior Justice of the Appeal Court, which is Justice Dongban-Mensem.
“This is a sad commentary on competence and due process. It will do the judiciary and the nation as a whole no good as gender and religion are never the yardstick for serving and progressing in the public service,” the Guild warned.
Recalled that the NJC had in a statement issued on Sunday by its director of Information, Soji Oye, said that the request for the nomination of Justice Dongban-Mensem formed part of the decisions taken at the recent virtual meeting of members of the council.
